[10 Dec 2005|08:43pm]

Inspired by kriegspiel' post over at the_libertines and somethingI'vebeenmeaningtodoforalongtime; I've decided to finally get my fangirl zine going. It's a compliation zine, so I want you (yes, ye!) to submit something. I can't pay you or nothing, but I will send you a free copy of the zine.

As such, if you would be so kind:
I'd like writing, artwork, paragraphing, ditty, whatever on whatever you want to comment on your fangirl obsession. There's pretty much no guidelines - thought I am mainly looking for things about 'how ______ has changed your life?' or something. Either submit in the comments or email me at syntaxandgramma@hotmail.com. If you want to mail it, that can be arranged too. It can be anonymous or not, whatever suites you best.

Deadline January 5th, 2006 (but I'm flexible).

Please participate! and thank you. and I love you. and cross posted everywhere, including air craft carriers.

and remember: you don't have to be a girl to be a fangirl.

King of Manchester poll [11 Aug 2005|04:54am]

So i participated in this poll when it was active, which was like....years ago. But i'm curious to hear the opinion of livejournalers at large.

In your opinion, who is the one true king of Manchester?

Greeting unto thee...I am a Moz fan of untraditional origins. They simply didn't play Morrissey or The Smiths on my radio stations growing up. One day about 7 years ago I heard "The more you Ignore me" on an alternative radio station in a big city I was visiting, and they didn't say the artist name. I was so taken I dug deep into the yellow pages and called the station to find out. Hence a love was born.

Upon learning the name "Morrissey" I ventured to my wee small town Best Buy and found Vauxhall and I, purchased it, and listened. For a few days I was a bit unsure, and then it hit me like a hammer. Now My Heart is Full is what really turned me, and the rest followed. I went back to Best Buy, bought a few Smiths 'package' albums, and I was hooked.

I soon found myself buying Morissey albums as I could find them, and then I ended up in Andorra and bought every Smiths Album I didn't have in some wee store there...and listened to them on a roadtrip through Spain, France and Italy. Nonstop. I can't listen to Unhappy Birthday without thinking of being stuck in traffic in Barcelona:) I think that's when I became a bit of an addict...

But sadly, I hear nothing of Moz locally and so I decided to join a few LJ communities. I didn't even know about the new album until just before it was released. SAD. Absolutely no-one here knows who Morrissey, or the Smiths, are.

I just joined the church, and thought I'd poke you all with sticks post because you all seem a little weak... like a limp lettuce... wake up and worship the moz, people. Oh, I think I'm a little crazy tonight.
What to say... I went to see Morrissey in Glasgow. It was wonderful, obviously. But... you see I loved him before the concert... but since the concert I seem to love him so much... I see pictures/hear songs... and I just shiver. It really was like some sort of cult ceremony or something, what with everyone desperately trying to touch him etc... and I admit I went a bit funny myself...
*sighs* Wish I had more to say.

How would you describe Morrissey's voice?

I am just so bad at describing voices, all I can say is... he sounds like god.
